World Day of Social Justice is an international day recognizing the need to promote social justice, which includes efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion, gender equality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections.
Tonight we will focus on the role of education in achieving social justice outcomes for the community. Does education help shape the individual and does it have a broader social impact, are some of the questions that will be answered. The approach given at the universities UTS &WSU will be examined.
Speaking tonight is the Honorable Verity Firth (Executive Director, Social Justice Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion UTS) and Professor James Arvanitakis (Pro Vice-Chancellor WSU) with facilitator Philippa McDonald (Former Senior ABC News Reporter). Affinity is proudly partnering with the Whitlam Institute within WSU & the Centre for Social Justice & Inclusion, UTS.
